Hi everyone... I'm happy to see that there is some interest in getting this study group off the ground. I hope that we can all take a little time here and there to check in and see what new things are going on. Feel free to introduce yourself here... If you have things to chat about with someone who does their intro... please start a new thread to do that... so that this is just a place to read about each person. Hugs! Dee

Re: introductions - welcome to the group
Mon, March 3, 2008 - 9:03 AMSo... I'm Dawna or Dee... I'm a mom of 2 darling toddler girls and I also have custody of a 16 yo amazing young woman... My husband and I live in CT. We also have a friend and her daughter living with us at the moment. I live an earth spiritual life... trying to be more conscious of everyday things that I can do and to be more aware... We are pretty cruncy.... recycle everything, burn almost all our paper trash in the woodstove, garden and collect fruits from our awesome bushes in the summer and spring, dh is a fanatic about going to the scrap metal yard and gets metal everywhere, we do sell cord wood from trees that are being cut in a new environmentally conscious development going up nearby and use mostly standing dead for our own heat, I try to mostly use homemade cleaners vs. chemical crap, but we have our standards that are hard to give up, we attachment parent for the most part, co-sleeping till they like their own space, baby wearing (although they are getting to heavy now LOL), I did cloth diaper for a long time with DD #1, but I wasn't able to keep up with DD#2.... We are also homeschooling the little ones (preschool age as of present).
I lean more towards a shamanic spiritual path, but not a specific tribe or place... I do not however try to blend everything into some neo-shamanic path that is all mine. :) I have trained to pour Dakota Inipi Kaga (sweat lodges). I practice many forms of healing: Shamanic, Intuitive (same if you ask me, but clients like different words), Usui Reiki Master Teacher. I'm certified in many things that I don't use that often: Melchizadek Method of healing, Touch for Health, Healing Touch, EMF Balancing, Integrated Energy Therapy... I see the common link in all of these methods and some work better for certain people... I just found the group I work with best. Herbalism is my second passion to healing, but I see that they go hand in hand. That the herbal part of healing is for the physical and the energy part the spiritual. Aromatherapy kind of fits right in between the two. :)
I teach classes at some of the local shops and universities when I can. Basic earth spirituality stuff, shamanic topics, healing topics, herbalism, tarot, etc... I also sell herbs, aromatherapy products, tinctures, salves, oils, baths, teas, etc.... that I make myself and the help of some friends who like to learn and / or barter. You can find out more about me at www.thewellspringcenter.net
I also love to sew (ren garb and cloaks are my favorite), knit and crochet. More crochet as of lately and I'm selling some cool crochet toys at the local natural baby store. I'm sure that there is more, but that is plenty for now. LOL I'm happy to be here.

Re: introductions - welcome to the group
Tue, March 4, 2008 - 1:06 AMGlad to see you are starting the group again Dawna. I found some info you had posted about moon cycles which was very helpful and that was how I got interested. I am not able to spend a long time on the computer tonight, but just to quickly introduce myself. I live in Oakland, CA and I have been part of different women's circles at different times in my life, though don't really have an extensive knowledge of how to use ritual and magic. I think it has always been a part of my life for certain, but I feel an invitation to use it more consciously in my life right now, so feel it calling out to me to go deeper. I also recently started going to a Brazilian Xira (sp?) and have had really good experiences with it, so that seems a vast magical world which I'm looking forward to learning more about. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and interest in this tribe and I look forward to checking back in when I have more time.

Re: introductions - welcome to the group
Wed, March 5, 2008 - 4:11 PMMy name is Rachael, i (currently) live in Erie, PA w/my 2 roommates & partners (we are a poly triade). i have no children, although i am hoping to in the next 4 years. i'm a gypsy who is always on the move, from state to state. i spend as much of my time at a camp ground, called Brushwood, in NY as possible. i work odd jobs in the winter, but much of the year i spend in south jersey working for my family.
We are all earth spirituality based pagans; i have studied several different paths, my current preference is Buddhism & eastern philosophies. i am trained in level 2 usui reiki, intuitive healing, chakra cleansing, energy balancing... although like dawna said most of these things r simply different ways of doing the same thing.... i have recently had the opportunity to begin treating animals with my energy healing & am currently treating a dog with with advanced cancer.
i have learned to accept that i can see spirits & am learning how to help them get their messages across. i study herbs & (not as diligently) crystals. i spend as much time as i can meditating, thinking positive thoughts (i'm practicing "The Secret" lol), & living every moment with kindness & compassion.
i'm sure theres loads more to say but i'm drawing a blank, if you are really that interested you can look for me on myspace.
warm wishes & bright blessings everyone! -

Re: introductions - welcome to the group
Fri, March 7, 2008 - 3:38 PMMy name is Amy (Rogue). I am currently a student of the Transformational Healing Center, owned by Dawna and alternatively called 'The Wellspring Center'. My path started by first learning about Wicca and witchcraft, but has most recently been steered almost exclusively in the direction of Native American (Lakota/Dakota) Shamanism/Spirituality. I love everything Native American. Also, anything from the southwestern tribes (Zuni, Navajo, and Hopi) I love. I have studied a few different alternative healing modalities including Usui Reiki, Intuitive Healing, Reflexology, Quantum Touch, Chakra Cleansing and Balancing and Shamanic Healing. Also, like Rachael, I am studying crystals, and (MUCH less diligently, LOL) herbs. Someone pointed out, once, that I balance everyone out in that way, LOL.
Additionally, although I am happily married, I am polyamorous. Polyamory supports and encourages FULL communication between partners (which means an awareness of the sexual and romatantic activities of each partner outside the primary relationship.) It requires brutal honest both with yourself and others. To that same end, I also consider myself to be pansexual, which means (to me) the capacity to feel romantic love (eros) for another human being regardless of gender(s) or lack thereof. Pansexuality is about loving the person for who they are, not what's below their waistline.
I am currently living in Connecticut but plan to make the move to (Erie) Pennsylvania (to be closer to my best friend and girlfriend) this coming summer when our current apartment contract runs up! Myself, Rachael, Kristi, Freedom, and my husband Nick will be moving into community home of our own creation. I can't wait!
Not only will I be surrounded by people who love me, but I will be only a half an hour away from the happiest place on earth! No -- Not DisneyWorld... BRUSHWOOD! It's my favorite place in the universe and everyone should experience it at least once. It's an amazing pagan-oriented, clothing optional campground in Sherman, NY that holds festivals all season. The month of July is nonstop festivals. It's a completely different culture there. At Brushwood you can be a shamanic pagan, pansexual, polyamorist and no one will give you a second look, in fact they will embrace you for it! If only the rest of society could be so accepting....
